Waterstone at Wellesley is a unique community. From the arts and crafts design, the modern but welcoming architecture, the unique 200+ pieces of art – all the way to the wellness, health, fitness, learning and culture opportunities we offer, everything about our community is designed to offer what any senior may want or need. You won’t find afternoons of BINGO, bland food or institutional-looking hallways here. Our community was specifically designed to be warm, welcoming, and engaging. The food is restaurant-quality, the living spaces are home-like and personal, and the activity list is long and varied.
The Boston Globe recently did a piece on the changing face of senior living, and Waterstone at Wellesley was featured. They wrote about how luxury is taking the place of boring food and lackluster activities, and about how today’s senior is looking for more in their retirement community. Waterstone was designed and is operated with this in mind; we know that seniors in Wellesley and beyond want and deserve a different kind of experience than what most people think of when they hear the words “senior living.”
Waterstone at Wellesley and the neighboring Epoch at Waterstone opened in April, with 82 units of independent living and 52 units of assisted living, respectively. All the apartments are rentals; there is no buy-in option.
The development is near the Charles River, and has walking paths, a putting green, gardening areas, and a fire pit for outdoor gatherings. There’s also a fitness center, indoor pool, and personal training available. It’s designed to feel like a boutique hotel, said Ted Tye, managing partner for National Development, which co-owns Waterstone.
And apparently the geriatric gourmet has become much more demanding.
“We’re providing basically restaurant-quality and restaurant-style dining, including a café and outdoor tables and elegant indoor dining,” said Tye. “It’s not you come down and get served, it’s you come when you want and order off a menu. The quality expectation for the food is very, very high.’’
The things that set Waterstone apart are too numerous to list. You can experience it yourself if you stop by for a tour. Give us a call or just drop by when you’re in the neighborhood and we’d love to show you around.
