End your week with history and music

We have a full schedule of activities this weekend at Waterstone at Wellesley, starting with a Friday lecture by Stonehill College professor Gary Hylander, who will share fascinating details about World War Two’s D-Day, the anniversary of which just passed.

Learn more about D-Day, the Allied invasion of Normandy which occurred on June 6, 1944, or simply refresh your memory. The lecture is part of Hylander’s 2014 Historical Lecture Series.

On Saturday and Sunday, we are hosting two musical performances sure to please any musical taste. First, a duo composed of vocalist Sophie Michaux and guitarist Adam Simon will perform songs from around the world, including France, Argentina, Romania, the United States and Great Britain. They will also perform original songs in Yiddish.

Then on Sunday, local pianist Steve Lanzillotta will return to play everyone’s favorite tunes from the American songbook, as well as show tunes, jazz and ragtime. Lanzillotta has been playing solo piano for more than 30 years.

Whatever piques your interest, we hope to see you around! As always, all events are free and open to the public, but it is requested that you RSVP.
