Neil Simon, Arthur Miller and Shakespeare visit Waterstone

Fall is one of our favorite times of year. With the cool, crisp weather and beautiful foliage, it’s a great time to enjoy events around town before the weather turns south. We hope you’ll join us over the next few weeks for performances by Kat Kennedy, Richard Clark and Geoffrey Hicks, as well as an interactive Shakespeare lecture series led by celebrated teacher and actor Stephen Collins.

First, we’ll welcome Kat Kennedy for performances on Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. and Sept. 9 at 4:30 p.m. A student at the Berklee College of Music, Kennedy regularly performs at popular venues around Boston, playing a mix of original pop folk pieces in addition to songs by Johnny Cash, Bill Withers, Vance Joy and a variety of others.

Next, Richard Clark will bring his play “A Time to Laugh, A Time to Weep” to Waterstone on Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Clark, a veteran actor in the New England and New York theater scenes, will explore the art of playwrights Neil Simon and Arthur Miller with this compelling performance.

Then, Stephen Collins will kick off his interactive Shakespeare lecture series on Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. Subsequent lectures will meet on Monday, Sept. 19, 26 and Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. Collins earned a degree in Literature from UMass Boston. He teaches seminars on Whitman, Hardy, Shakespeare, Frost and Contemporary Poetry all over the country and is known for his innovative teaching style, which has been described as a cross between lecture and performance.

Finally, we’ll welcome back one of our favorite performers, acclaimed pianist Geoffrey Hicks, on Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. A multi-talented pianist and singer, Hicks is also a composer, conductor and lecturer. He has conducted several choral groups, including the New England Conservatory Youth Chorale, the Rosie’s Place Jazz Choir and others. He has also performed before congressmen, presidents and international dignitaries at Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, the White House and other prestigious venues.
