Fishing for fitness and fun in Wellesley - Outside their own front door

As Featured in the Wellesley Townsman.

On a mid-August morning, a small group of residents and staff from Waterstone at Wellesley gathered for the first meeting of the community's newest recreational group: The Waterstone Fishing Club.

The fishing expedition was peppered with stories about days gone by and the occasional bite on the line. One of Waterstone’s first residents caught the first fish of the day — a largemouth bass about six inches long — and promptly released it.

Waterstone, Wellesley’s newest senior living community, has taken full advantage of its location along the Charles by using its ample outdoor space to encourage physical and social activities for the residents.

In the abundance of outdoor space, residents can enjoy fishing from the newly renovated footbridge, walking on the riverfront path, tending to the raised herb garden, playing bocce or croquet on the lawn and practicing on the small putting green.
