Next Monday artist and founder of Art Matters Jane Blair is returning to Waterstone at Wellesley to continue her art exploration series with a discussion on the American painter Mary Cassatt. Cassatt, born in 1844, was one of the leading women of French Impressionism. 

Next week at Waterstone at Wellesley, we’re excited to host a musical performance of songs from “Annie Get Your Gun,” and a special “What’s it Worth?” event with Duncan Gray, president of the Sandwich Auction House.

Film critic Dan Kimmel will visit Waterstone at Wellesley this weekend to discuss the classic, dark comedy, “Arsenic and Old Lace.”

As part of our ongoing commitment at Waterstone at Wellesley to provide quality lectures and entertainment to our residents and the public, we will be hosting a new series called “Long Lives, the New Reality.”

The series is presented by Susan Sprecher, co-producer of PBS’s Coming of Age in Aging America, and will start with “Rethinking Old Age,” on Monday, Oct. 6.

On Saturday, pianist Alan Pearlmutter and clarinetist Linda Poland will perform Jewish songs in a program they call Yiddishkeit to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, which begins today and ends Friday evening. For those who don’t know Yiddishkeit can be translated to mean, “Jewish character or quality,” or “Jewish way of life.”

Next Monday, we’re continuing the ArtMatters series hosted by Jane Blair, who will visit Waterstone at Wellesley to discuss the artist Marc Chagall.

Fans of silent movie star Charlie Chaplin will want to visit Waterstone this Sunday to listen in on a fascinating lecture about Chaplin’s film, “City Lights.”

Film critic Dan Kimmel, a former Boston correspondent for Variety who taught film at Suffolk University, is visiting on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. to discuss the 1931 film.
