November was a busy month for the Waterstone community, between myriad performances, discussions, visitors, outings and, of course, our own very first Thanksgiving celebration. Our team did a wonderful job decorating the community for the Thanksgiving holiday, and the bright, bold sunflowers that adorned the tables were especially pretty. We pride ourselves on good food, but the dining team really outdid themselves for the holiday celebration, and the food was both abundant and delicious!

To start, all of us here at Waterstone at Wellesley would like to wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We hope it's full of food, family, fun, and at least a little bit of relaxation! It's our first Thanksgiving and holiday season as a community and we're excited to embark on it, especially given we have Chef Randy's delicious cooking to look forward to. Here are several Waterstone residents enjoying a drink around our common room fireplace on a recent afternoon. In other news, we have some great events coming up after Thanksgiving.

Waterstone at Wellesley has been named the silver winner in the “Best New Development: Senior Housing” category for the 2012 Multi-Housing News Excellence Awards. The annual, national MHN Excellence Awards acknowledge the most outstanding people, companies and properties in the multifamily industry. Winning this prestigious award is truly an honor and means you’re at the top of your field.

First, the team at Waterstone would like to extend its thoughts and prayers to those affected by Sandy. We were fortunate to have missed the brunt of the storm, and residents reported feeling safe and comfortable within our home at Waterstone as the winds whipped outside. We all know, however, that many have been tragically affected by this storm and our thoughts and prayers are with them.

We are lucky to have a partnership with Dr. Timothy Murphy of Weston Primary Care here on our Waterstone at Wellesley campus. Early it the planning for Waterstone, we established a partnership with Dr. Murphy for the residents here. Dr. Murphy provides concierge medicine services to our residents, an invaluable service that we hope to grow in the future.

Do you have an antique or two in your house, or perhaps collecting dust in your closet or attic, that you've always been curious about but never knew quite how to use? Most of us have at least one family heirloom, or an old and nearly-forgotten antique we've never figured out what to do with.

We invited The Cheese Shop, known locally as Wasik’s, to our community this week for a cheese tasting.This unique event was a lot of fun and a big success. Dozens of residents and guests attended and had fun getting to know one another, touring Waterstone at Wellesley’s beautiful community and learning about Wasik’s. And of course, they enjoyed themselves tasting a variety of delicious, specialty cheeses! As a supporter of local, community-oriented business, Waterstone at Wellesley was pleased to host Wasik’s.

Boston and the surrounding towns and cities are rife with talented musicians, performers, and entertainers. Walking down any major street or along a T station, you're likely to encounter at least one or two performers. From small improv theaters to major performance halls, there's something for every interest. Being home to numerous universities, performance halls, and performing arts schools has a lot of perks, including the existence of a deep well of local talent. One such local talent is Stephen Collins.

The residents at Waterstone at Wellesley and EPOCH Assisted Living at Waterstone are a diverse bunch. Many have unique interests and passions, which is part of the reason they chose Waterstone over other senior living options: we have opportunities for them to explore their interests and to discover new ones. A growing group of residents, for example, has recently uncovered their mutual interest in art. And not just fine art in museums and hanging on walls, but their own art.

We have a variety of great events coming up at Waterstone at Wellesley. From decadent chocolates to delectable cheeses to cherished treasures, you won't want to miss out on these exciting opportunities.
